Our Equality Coalition meetings are held bimonthly. Each meeting usually lasts 3 hours, with lunch served at the end. All of our meetings are hybrid, so that we can maximise our attendance and cater to our broad membership across Northern Ireland. Our meetings are chaired by one our both co-convenors, Daniel Holder (CAJ) and Patricia McKeown (UNISON).

Legal Interventions Subgroup

Each meeting is structured around an agenda covering key and pressing equality issues, while also giving members the opportunity to share updates from their own work, be it new research, upcoming events, or any new policy developments. Our meetings are confidential and provide space for open discussion, information sharing, and collective consideration of a wide range of equality and human rights issues affecting Northern Ireland.

Sometimes, we also invite guest speakers to our meetings. These may include representatives from public authorities, giving members the chance to provide feedback on specific policies or initiatives. Other times, member organisations are invited to present on pressing issues, share their expertise, or showcase new research. When a public authority attends, they are present only for the duration of their presentation, allowing the rest of the meeting to remain a space for member discussion and collaboration.
