In addition to our regular meetings, the Coalition sometimes forms subgroups to explore specific issues in greater depth. Find out more about our current subgroup(s) below.

Legal Interventions Subgroup

This subgroup provides a structured way for member groups to collaborate on legal and administrative advocacy. It is chaired by the Equality Coalition Policy and Legal Officer and attended by CAJ legal staff, who can assist with interventions such as Freedom of Information requests, Section 75 complaints, language standards, and other administrative tools. The subgroup also:

  • Facilitates additional training for members
  • Provides a regular, structured interface for member organisations to work together and develop impactful interventions

These meetings are held bimonthly and a range of issues have been discussed. This subgroup is for members only.

Building legal challenges can be a rewarding - yet, at times, frustrating - exercise. That's why it's so valuable to have dedicated spaces like the Legal Interventions Subgroup where like-minded organisations can meet to strategise, vent or just catch up with the latest developments in each other's cases. By having the most up-to-date picture of the litigation landscape in NI, we are better prepared to support each other's equality work, when it's needed most.
